Electramo configured five cast-iron 160 kW IE4 motors for a demanding variable-speed application. The specification calls for 1,480 Nm at 930 rpm and 325 Nm at 2,300 rpm: a wide operating range that requires careful choices throughout the motor.

Each motor features:

• Special inverter-duty windings and shaft grounding
• B35 mounting and IP56 protection
• PTC sensors and a 230 V heater
• Internal tropicalisation and an oil-tight flange
• C5 coating in RAL 7011
• An insulated NDE bearing and IC416 forced cooling
• A 95 X 170 mm shaft

Look closely at the overview photo and you’ll also see four “smaller” high-output motors 55kW. They were configured for a separate order for the same customer.

Their specification includes a B5 flange, IP56 protection, C3 coating, full internal tropicalisation, stainless-steel components, integrated heaters and a TEAOM cooling option.
